MISSION STATEMENT:
In it’s most literal sense, a “place” is anything recognizable as a distinct location in both time and space. It might be a spot under a tree, or the intersection of two fences. Although we are often unaware of it, we use all of our senses to define a “place”. Texture, temperature, scent, sound, and in some cases even taste, all join with visual information to leave a record in our minds.
Places also exist within specific time frames. The date a building is constructed, how it is used through it’s life-cycle, it's alterations, and how it is maintained, all join together to shape it’s character. Even that spot under the tree will change over time.
Places are important to people, because they are the background for all the activities of our lives. They impact the way we live, the way we work, and the way we play. At This Place In Time, we believe that the creation of architecture begins with the creation of places, and emphasize an awareness that those places have a history, a present, and a future.
